UCLA STAFFING
UCLA is a magnet that draws hundreds of thousands of students and scholars from around the world. Here we advance knowledge, create art, inspire children, and save lives. We illuminate the past, shape the present, and discover the future. We are yesterday's dreams and tomorrow's hope.
UCLA gives life to big ideas and leaves the world a better place.
This is the environment you become part of when you join UCLA. We live, learn and work in a village of 60,000, in a region of 8 million. We can dine, bank, shop, work out, visit a doctor, enjoy a show or simply take a stroll in a park without ever leaving UCLA's wooded, 419-acre campus. We even have our own police department and power plant.
We also have a non-academic staff of almost 18,000 whose disciplines cover the entire spectrum of employment from managerial to clerical support, nursing to allied health, finance to accounting, high tech to maintenance, and everything in between. Through people and programs, UCLA draws strength from diversity. We produce more minority degree holders than almost any other institution of higher education, and UCLA employees reflect the multi-faceted nature of our society. We are the most multicultural campus in the nation, the new American University for the 21st century.
Much of what we don't find on campus can be found immediately to the south, at the plentiful shops, restaurants, and theaters of Westwood Village. The beauty and recreational opportunities of the Pacific Ocean, and Santa Monica Mountains are just minutes away. And the vast resources and opportunities of Los Angeles, the nation's second-largest city are all around us.
